Type
I am a self-described type nut; my work has becoming increasingly type-driven in the past few years. I have worked on everything from typefaces to custom typographic solutions. Below is a series of snippets of some of my work, including stills from my video "The Battle of Little Big Horn", winner of Type Director's Club Award for Excellence.

Maintaining an Engagement Infographic
The New York Times asked me to to create an info-graphic about an aspect of my life in graduate school, which was published in the Education Life section in July 2011. I chose to focus the graphic on the challenge of maintaing a relationship during graduate school, because of my personal experience with the difficulty of balancing work, graduate school, and spending time with my fiancee.

Atlacatl
Commissioned as a gift, this poster depicts Atlacatl, considered to be the last king of El Salvador. Atlacatl become a great symbol for the empowerment of indigenous peoples. In the commission brief, I was asked to make the work both powerful and reflective of my own illustration style, as the intended recipient admired Atlacatl.

Zeus
The project began with an ethnographic study of a stranger of my choice and focusing on creating something to help the stranger. Inspired by a systems administrator (Jack) who was stuck in a small cold dark room all day. The Zeus hoodie was created to help Jack in his daily work.
Zeus is the premier systems administrator wearable unit.

Moss Guitar
This project was the fruit of a course in Three Dimensional Product Reality, taught by Kevin O'Callaghan. We were given a guitar and told to redesign it to reflect a charity's work. Given my propensity to help indigenous peoples, I chose rainforest preservation as my charitable cause. After much labor, the result is an all-natural, living, and growing guitar. More and more of the rainforest is cut down each day to make way for “progress.” It is vitally important for the environment and the indigenous peoples who live in these areas to save what is left.

I designed this website, isn't that good enough?
Lexia
Lexia is a website dedicated to helping those with dyslexia. By taking a realistic look at dyslexia, the site focuses on several key overlooked areas that hold potential to help dyslexic individuals. This site features in-depth solutions from actual dyslexics, a Twitter feed, and a mentorship program intended to bolster self-esteem and enhance coping skills. At Lexia, new media has been coupled with traditional media to create a fresh and interesting information-sharing community for dyslexics.
Lexia's mobile component is the app, intended to serve as a dyslexic's personal tool kit. In the app, dyslexics will find a series of tools to help them navigate the world, including a photo-based tip calculator and Jumbler. Jumbler uses existing technology to mimic the effects of dyslexia. When reading, dyslexic's minds will unconsciously move letters out of place, making reading challenging. Jumber uses the camera in your phone or tablet to pre-jumble letters and words to match a dyslexic individual's unique way of seeing, making reading easier. Whether on the world wide web or through our mobile app, Lexia will have you seeing the world in a whole new way.
